Preparing for daycare
What to bring for a Joyful Daycare day, what your dog can expect, and tips for first-timers.
Joyful Daycare is pretty low-prep — that's kind of the point. You drop off, your dog has a full day of supervised play and rest, and you pick up a tired, happy dog.
What to bring
- Nothing is strictly required — I've got water, toys, and rest spaces.
- A leash for drop-off and pick-up.
- Any daily medications with clear instructions.
- If your dog has a special diet for lunch, bring a labeled portion.
What to expect
Your dog gets supervised playtime, rest breaks, and one-on-one attention in my home. There's no chaotic pack of thirty dogs — it's a calm, personal environment. Most dogs settle in within the first hour and by pick-up they're ready for a nap at home.
First visit? Your dog might be a little nervous at drop-off — that's completely normal. They usually settle in fast once they realize it's a safe, fun place. A quick goodbye works better than a long emotional one.
